  • Size-specific table: XS/S have 27.5-inch wheels; M–XXL have 29-inch. API conflicts: summary handlebar 35 mm / 780 mm versus component table 31.8 mm / 690–750 mm; rim service says 27.5 for every size; 180 mm rotor service says Center Lock while marketing says 6-bolt. Confirm these fitted parts and rotor positions before ordering. Bottom-bracket thread and fork limits are not established.
  • Service hardware, torque procedures and exact retail packages are not fully documented. A second page from the same manufacturer is not independent fit verification.
  • The front Shimano claim covers all 20 listed Canadian SKUs. Tektro service substitutes on XS/S require the fitted brake to be identified again.

Documented specifications

The Trek Marlin 5 Gen 3 is a XC mountain bike — representative silhouette: XC hardtail. We have read 26 specification sheets (Trek Bicycle Corporation, Shimano, SwissStop and Trek Bicycle) and recorded 28 fit facts from them. 10 of the 16 measurements a XC mountain bike needs to answer fit questions are on file; 3 are confirmed by two independent sources. Where a measurement is missing, we say so below — we do not guess.

Confidence: 9 facts are verified by two independent sources; the rest come from a single cited source ("derived").

Not on file (required for a XC mountain bike): Bottom bracket shell · Derailleur hanger · Maximum tyre width (frame) · Brake mount, front · Brake mount, rear · Pedal thread. The sheets we read do not state them; until a source does, confirm these measurements before choosing a part that depends on them.

Why do so many verdicts on this bike read "unknown"?
Because a verdict needs the bike's measurement for every dimension a part requires, and 6 of the 16 required measurements are not on file. "Unknown" means we could not check — not that it fits, and not that it does not.
Will the verdicts change?
Yes. When a second independent source confirms a measurement — or a first one states a missing one — the verdicts are recomputed from the new facts. Nothing on this page is typed by hand.

Sources

The spec sheets we read. Every fact above cites one of them.

Source limitations: Size-specific table: XS/S have 27.5-inch wheels; M–XXL have 29-inch. API conflicts: summary handlebar 35 mm / 780 mm versus component table 31.8 mm / 690–750 mm; rim service says 27.5 for every size; 180 mm rotor service says Center Lock while marketing says 6-bolt. Confirm these fitted parts and rotor positions before ordering. Bottom-bracket thread and fork limits are not established. CUES/Linkglide chain family and rear BR-MT200/B05S-RX pad family now corroborated. All 20 listed Canadian size/colour SKUs identify front BR-MT200/B03S, supporting B05S-RX at both ends. XS/S Tektro service substitutions invalidate the stock Shimano claim if installed. Conflicting cockpit/rotor service details remain unresolved.
